My journey in the arts began in 2010 with The Necessary Stage in Singapore,working on award-winning productions: Gemuk Girls (Fat Girls) & Model Citizens, as well as supporting the annual M1 Singapore Fringe Festival.
In 2012, she joined The Substation as Programmes Manager, where she was responsible for programming major annual events like the Night Festival and SeptFest. She also led the Performing Arts season, commissioning new works and providing a platform for emerging artists to experiment, fail & take creative risks.
In 2016 I managed HATCH, a local theatre collective, producing a range of original productions including Hawa, Super Happy Land, Cari Makan, and Lanang. One of the highlights was taking Super Happy Land on tour to Osaka, Japan, and Hawa to BrisbaneFest, Australia.
In 2018, I moved to London to pursue an MA in Creative Producing at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama.
During the pandemic I launched RUMAH, a virtual space supporting Asian diaspora creatives. Through online events like Main-Main (Scratch Nights) and Crying Parties,I was able to bring artists together, foster connection & provide a supportive space for skill-building. RUMAH was supported by Arts Council England and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.In 2022,I was nominated for Asian Woman of Achievement by NatWest.
Since 2021, I have served as Interim Creative Producer for Departure Lounge at In Good Company, a key development program for creatives in the Midlands. I was Project Manager /Assistant Producer with Complicité & supported various productions such as Drive Your Plow & Can I Live? by Fehinti Balogun.
That same year, I was awarded the Stage One Producers Bursary which supported me in producing Martha Watson Allpress’s award winning show, Patricia Gets Ready to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2021, followed by a regional tour. (You can buy a copy of the playtext here.)
Since then I’ve worked with other diverse companies like Vital Xposure,Hackney Empire,Brixton House & Spare Tyre. Currently transitioning into a new role as General Manager, I now General Manage LUNG,a campaign led arts charity, as well as Spymonkey,UK’s leading physical comedy ensemble. I am also Trustee for Transform Festival.
